What Am I Working On Right Now?
Hello Readers:
You may or may not know that I am an independent Insurance agent. That simply means that I work for my clients to offer them the products that will work best for them. I work with many companies. My insurance business FUNDS my wine fun.
I also have a new online wine presence. For me, I really enjoy tasting new wines and traveling to new places to find out what wines the area or the winery is known for. I find it exciting to meet new people and taste new wines and hear why someone LOVES a certain wine and what makes the wine special.
All wines have a story and I want to help tell their story as I forge ahead to make my dreams come true. One of my dreams is to travel more but with COVID-19, this has become a bit of a challenge. So, what do I focus on when I am unable to travel as much as I want? Well, I focus on two businesses at ONCE!
Everyday I work for the majority of the day on my insurance business. Then once things slow down for the day, I work on something for my new wine business. And honestly, that has kept me really busy these last few weeks. I am super excited!
I have posted on Instagram since January of 2019 when I started to travel to a new place every month. But since COVID, I have decided that now is the time to create a wider online presence for my wine business. That said, I have hired a web designer to create the perfect website and to help me grow my business through online sources. I now have not only an Instagram page, but also, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, although I haven’t posted on Twitter or YouTube yet. It will happen in the right timeframe. This is both overwhelming and fun at the same time.
By expanding my online presence, I hope to speak to people in everyday terms about the wines I taste. I have learned so much about wines since I first started this journey, but I am by no means, an expert. I know what I like and I describe wines in terms that I think most people will understand and relate to. I will recommend wines that I enjoy and tell the readers just why I enjoy that particular wine. I realize that my wine tastes have changed over time and for the better. It is easier for me to describe wines to my friends and family, helping them understand what they are tasting and what to look for when they see, smell and taste a wine.
I love wine tastings. I enjoy going to new wineries, to taste their wines and hear them tell me what they love about their wines. Every wine that is created comes from the hearts of the people who decide what grapes to plant, then tend to these vines as the grapes mature, who prune the vines, who decide on which wines to make using just the right recipe, who hope and pray and do many hours of backbreaking work to produce quality wines that people not only like, but who tell their friends about it. These winery owners and winery workers have put their hearts and souls into their wines but above all else, they truly love every step of this process. I hope to interview different winery owners to learn then write about their unique story. That is a part of this wine journey that really interests me and I believe that people reading my stories will enjoy them too.
People often ask me, “What is your favorite wine?” I have a difficult time answering that question. My favorite wine depends on many factors—time of day, day of the week, temperature, not only outside and in the tasting room (or wherever I am drinking the wine) but also the temperature of the wine itself, what kind of week or day that I’ve had, who I am with, the mood I’m in, the friendliness of the staff if I am visiting a tasting room and so much more. That may sound silly to some people. This just shows that there are many influences when you taste or drink wines. Something you don’t like one day, you may like at another time, and all because of these outside influences. That may sound odd to some of you. My suggestion is to look at your circumstances the next time you have a new wine in front of you and listen to yourself. I think you will see that some of what I said makes sense.
Bottom line is my goal to have more people enjoy wines and if I can help just a little with that, then that will make me happy.
And remember, my motto is:
“Life Is Too Short To Drink Bad Wine!”

Susan
